Secular Therapy in Salt Lake City & Across Utah
A Thoughtful Space for Adults Seeking Therapy Outside a Religious Framework
For some adults, therapy feels more comfortable in a space that is not guided by religious assumptions or spiritual frameworks. Secular therapy offers room to explore your experiences, values, and identity from a perspective grounded in your own beliefs and lived experience.
You may identify as non-religious, atheist, agnostic, spiritual but not religious, or simply prefer therapy that does not center faith as part of the process. Therapy here is respectful, thoughtful, and focused on helping you understand yourself more clearly rather than moving toward any particular worldview.
Many adults who reach out are thoughtful and reflective, yet still feel anxiety, self-doubt, or a quiet sense of disconnection.
Together, we work to better understand the patterns, experiences, and environments that may be shaping how you relate to yourself, others, and the life you want moving forward.
If this resonates, you’re welcome to begin with a free 15-minute consultation to see whether working together feels like a good fit.
Common Themes in This Work
Common themes in this work include:
wanting therapy free from religious assumptions
navigating life after leaving a religious or high-demand environment
exploring identity, meaning, or values outside a faith-based framework
uncertainty about beliefs, direction, or personal values
shame or internalized messaging from past environments
relationship or family tension connected to differing beliefs
rebuilding self-trust and a sense of personal direction
You do not need to define your beliefs clearly before starting therapy. This is a space where uncertainty, exploration, and reflection are welcome.
How We Approach the Work
Rather than focusing on what you should believe, we focus on helping you better understand yourself, your experiences, and what feels meaningful and aligned to you personally.
For some people, this work involves rebuilding trust in themselves after years of external expectations or rigid systems. For others, it may involve exploring identity, relationships, belonging, or how they want to move through the world moving forward.
Some clients also choose to incorporate trauma-informed work and EMDR as deeper experiences and patterns begin to feel more approachable over time.
This process is not about replacing one belief system with another. It is about creating space for you to think, feel, and grow in ways that feel authentic to you.
