Therapy for Anxiety & Perfectionism in Salt Lake City & Across Utah

A Thoughtful Space to Slow Down the Pressure and Understand What’s Beneath It

Therapy office at New Heights Counseling in Salt Lake City, Utah

Anxiety and perfectionism often show up in people who are capable, responsible, and highly self-aware. From the outside, things may look stable or successful. Internally, however, there may be constant pressure, overthinking, or a sense that you can never quite relax or feel finished.

Many adults who reach out are not looking for quick fixes. They want deeper understanding, emotional clarity, and a healthier relationship with themselves.

Together, we work to better understand where these patterns come from, what they may have protected you from, and how they may be affecting your life now.

If this resonates, you’re welcome to begin with a free 15-minute consultation to see whether working together feels like a good fit.

Common Experiences with Anxiety and Perfectionism

People seek therapy for many different reasons. Some common themes include:

  • persistent worry or overthinking

  • high expectations of yourself that feel exhausting

  • difficulty relaxing or feeling “done”

  • fear of making mistakes or disappointing others

  • self-criticism or feeling never quite good enough

  • anxiety in relationships or decision-making

  • emotional exhaustion despite functioning well externally

You do not need to have everything figured out before starting therapy. If something feels unsettled, that is enough.

How We Approach the Work

Rather than focusing only on reducing symptoms or improving productivity, we take time to understand how anxiety and perfectionism may have developed and what roles they have played in your life.

For some people, these patterns are connected to pressure, fear, shame, or environments where it felt difficult to slow down, make mistakes, or fully trust themselves.

Some clients also choose to incorporate trauma-informed work and EMDR as deeper experiences and patterns begin to feel more approachable over time.

The goal is not perfection or constant productivity. It is developing a healthier relationship with yourself and moving through life with greater flexibility, self-understanding, and emotional clarity.
